Nestled amongst the mix of gentrification of new condos and old factories in Astoria is Socrates Sculpture Park. Its unassuming location and entrance makes it easy to miss, but it’s certainly a must see.
With ample shade-bearing trees, benches, picnic tables, and sprawling grass, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. The rotating sculpture collections always offer an eccentric modern exhibit for your viewing pleasure.
The park is open till sunset but if you visit during the summer, you might be able to catch their weekly outdoor film screening at night with views of the Manhattan skyline.
